Metrostars at Revolution on September, 9, 2000 

When this game started the Revs had already made it to the playoffs but the Revs still were playing for playoff position. William Sunsing was followed in the box causing a penalty. Imad Baba scored on the penalty kick in the 6th minute to give the Revolution a one nothing lead. Adam Eyre fell into a player but called a foul in the box in the 9th minute but Metrostars missed the penalty wide. What a bizarre start to the game. In the 15th minute John Harkes made a bad pass to Rusty Pierce and Alex Comas scored for the Metrostars. The game was tied 1 to 1. In the 34th minute Comas scored a second goal to give the Metrostars a one goal lead.  In the 36th minute Joey Franchino scored his first goal for the Revs on a Sunsing cross. The game was tied 2 to 2.  In the 40th minute Jamar Beasley scored to take a lead for the Revs.  In an unbelievable first half with 5 goals the Revs lead 3 to 1. In the 47th minute Comas scored his third goal of the game to tie it up.  In the 68th minute Franchino scored his second goal of the game to give the Revs a one goal lead.

The Revs finished in 7th place in the league and will play the Chicago Fire which, are 2nd in the league. 

Wizards at Revs on September, 6 

The Revolution started Jeff Causey because Juergen Sommer broke his finger in the last game. Juergen Sommer will be out for the rest of the season. The first half was evenly matched but neither team could put a goal in the net. Molnar of the Kansas City Wizards scored in the 50th minute to give the Wizards a one nothing lead. Even though the Revs had many chances Meola made many great saves to stop the Revs from scoring.

The Revs are still in 6th place with 42 points. They have not clinched a spot in the playoffs yet. 

Revolution at United on September, 3 

Eric Wynalda started his first game for the Revs. Wolde Harris missed the game because of World Cup duty.  In the first half both teams had great chances. Very early Wynalda scored but it was mistakenly called offside by the assistant referee. Neither team was able to capitalize in the scoreless first half. In the 54th minute Pete Marino of the D.C. United scored on a free kick to take the lead (1-0). In the 61st minute Marino scored again to give the D.C. United a commanding lead two nothing lead. That is the way the game ended.

If the Revolution had won they would have clinched a spot in the play-offs. The Revs have 42 points and they are still the 6th best team in the league. The top 8 teams make the playoffs.    

 

United at Revolution on Wednesday, August 30

In the first half of this game the Revolution played much worse than the D.C. United. After the first half the game was scoreless. Juergen Sommer made great saves the whole game. In the 59th minute Jose Luis Morales scored to make the game 1-0. It was his first MLS goal. The Revs are now on a three game winning streak.

Crew at Revolution on Wednesday, July, 12 at Columbus

Brian McBride was out of this game. The Revs have never won a game in Crew Stadium. In the 30th minute Mario Gori a former Rev player got injured and came out. Cunningham came in as the substitute. 

Dante Washington of the Columbus Crew put the Crew on the board in the 43rd minute. The Crew led the Revs by one goal at halftime. In the 49th minute Dante Washington scored again. Mauricio Wright passed the ball but it was intercepted by Cunningham. With that goal the Crew took a commanding lead. The Crew sealed the game with a goal by Brian West in the 74th minute. In the 80th minute William Sunsing was fouled in the box. John Harkes scored the penalty kick in the 80th minute. The Revs put themselves on the board. Unfortunately, it was too little too late. In the 89th minute Brian West scored to put the icing on the cake.

The New England Revolution and the Miami Fusion both were unable to score in the first half. In the 72nd minute Ted Chronopoulos scored. The Revs took the lead (1-0). In the 92nd minute John Harkes scored a goal to put the icing on the cake. THE REVS WIN! THE REVS WIN! They take a 6 point lead over Miami in the eastern conference.

Revolution at Rapids on Monday May 29 

The Rapids took the lead when Junior Agogo scored in the 38th minute. After the end of the first half the Rapids had a lead of one goal. Rusty Pierce took committed a foul in the box. Junior Agogo took the penalty kick and missed it. But Agogo got a goal on the rebound in the 80th minute. The Rapids put on another goal to their lead. In the 90th minute, Jamar Beasley passed it to Paul Keegan to put the Revs on the board. It was too little too late though and the Revolution couldn't get another goal.

The Los Angeles at New England on Wednesday, May 24

The Revolution beat the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Los Angeles Galaxy suffered its first loss of the season. Ted Chronopoulos scored two goals.

The Revolution are 3 points ahead of the Miami Fusion for the lead of the Eastern Conference but they have played one more game then the Fusion. 

 

Colorado at New England on May 17th

Somehow Colorado scored three goals in the last 15 minutes of the game to beat the Revs (4-3). on Wednesday, May 17th. Unfortunately, no game summary for this game.

New England at Chicago on May 20th

The Revolution and Miami Fusion both won their games last Saturday. So, they are still tied for first in the Eastern Conference with 16 points per team. The Metrostars aren't too far behind with 12 points. The United lost again and stay in the basement with only 7 points. 

 

New England Revolution Revolution at D.C. United on May 13th

In a very exciting beginning of the first half Jaime Moreno scored for the D.C. United in the 14th minute. To tie up the game Wolde Harris scored for the New England Revolution in the 16th minute. At halftime the score was tied one to one. On a free kick that Mauricio Ramos took in the 66th minute to take the lead. In the 79th minute Moreno took a penalty kick but miraculously Jeff Causey saved it. There was a penalty because Chronopulus got called for a foul in the box. On a free kick Imad Baba scored in the 83rd minute, just minutes after the penalty kick Causey saved. This gave the Revolution a 3 to 1 lead. The score would stay that way for the rest of the game.

The Revolution are now tied in the lead of the eastern conference with Miami but Miami has played one more game then the Revolution have. The Metrostars hold third place with 9 points. The D.C. United are in the basement of the league to everyone's surprise with only 7 points.

With this win the New England Revolution took the lead in the Eastern Conference with 10 points. But the Metrostars are only behind them by one point. Miami and D.C. United are still close on New England's tail with 7 points apiece.  

 

Miami Fusion at New England Revolution on April 29th 2000

In the first half of the important eastern conference showdown both teams could not get the ball into the net. In the 52nd minute of play the Miami Fusion's Henry Gutierrez scored to put Miami in the lead by one goal. Then off a John Harkes corner kick Brian Dunseth scored in the 69th minute of play to tie the game at one goal per team. This score held and yet again the Revs went into overtime. Nobody could put the ball in the net during OT but Francis Okaroh appeared to of pulled Johnny Torres in the box in the final seconds of overtime.  Revs suffered an injury to Rusty Pierce because he collided with Brian Dunseth. Rusty Pierce appeared to have a concussion and was brought to the hospital. Also, Mike Burns was out because he had the flu and Ivan McKinley was out because of a groin injury. Dan Calichman another defender went out in the first half.  

The Miami Fusion and Revolution are still tied for the top of the eastern conference with 7 points

Chicago Fire at New England Revolution on April 22, 2000

It was a dismal day. The field was slippery and it was cold. At halftime there was no scoring. There also were no cards. Kovalenko of the Fire scored in the 59th minute to take the lead by one goal. But in the 68th minute Ivan McKinley put one past Zack Thornton to tie the game up. Razov shot a penalty because Calichman knocked down the ball with his hand. But Razov got his shot saved by Jeff Causey. At the end of regulation both teams were tied. After two over-times both teams still were tied. Now Miami, New England and the Metrostars are tied for the top of the Eastern conference with 6 points a piece.

D.C. United at New England on April, 15 2000

In the home opener the New England Revolution played host the defending MLS champion D.C. United. They were always a tough team. In the first half the D.C. United's Jaime Mareno put one past Jeff Causey in the 19th minute of play. But then Cooks got ejected after getting two yellow cards. At half-time D.C. United had a one-nothing lead. This was going to change though. In the 72nd minute Imad Baba scored a penalty kick. At the end of regulation it was tied 1-1 but then in the 7th minute of overtime Imad Baba scored the golden Goal for the victory! With this accomplishment Imad Baba is the player of the week. Imad Baba also carried the Revolution to 2nd place in the Eastern Conference. Now they trail the Miami Fusion by 1 point.
