When I heard that there is a type of fish that kills its children, I thought
that this fish was totally uncivilized. But now I realize that humans are also
as bad as these fish because we also kill our own kind. The fish that eats its
young probably doesn’t know better, but we do. We are the most intelligent
of all creatures, but we are the most uncivilized because we sometimes use our
intelligence to destroy ourselves. A lot of our intelligence is not used in a
constructive and creative way. For instance, we are still creating destructive
things such as atomic bombs’. If we didn’t have this much intelligence, we
wouldn't have been able to create the atomic bomb, which killed so many
people. We are the only creature that has the intelligence to create a bomb
that has enough power to blow up the world.
Humans have been given the power to speak to each other, so it is
inexcusable that humans kill when they could talk instead. I hope that one day
humans will be able to compromise and work out by discussion when they have a
dispute over land, religion or anything else. I hope one day national
presidents, prime ministers and dictators can follow the simple rule which is
taught to most children in kindergarten— “Use your words.”
